The vocation camp specially organized for candidates from the Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong regions concluded meaningfully on 22 January 2026 at Don Bosco, Satgaon, bringing to an end four days of prayer, reflection, learning, and joyful fellowship. The camp had commenced on 19 January 2026 and was organized by the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, with the aim of helping young aspirants discern God’s call in their lives.

The concluding day began in a prayerful atmosphere with the Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial. The Eucharistic celebration marked the spiritual climax of the camp, as the participants gathered together to thank God for the graces received during the days of accompaniment and discernment.

In his homily, the Vice Provincial reflected on the theme of trust in God, drawing inspiration from the first reading of the day and the life of King David. He emphasized how David placed complete trust in the Lord even when faced with great challenges and uncertainties. Fr. Bivan further invited the candidates to reflect on the example of Jesus Himself, who, though truly God, chose the path of humility, obedience, and total reliance on the Father. Quoting from Scripture, he reminded them: “Though He was in the form of God, He did not count equality with God, but emptied Himself and became obedient to the Father.” Highlighting this profound mystery of Christ’s humility, he encouraged the young aspirants to cultivate the same attitude of trust and surrender in their own lives as they discern their vocation. Like Jesus, he said, they too were called to place their lives confidently in the hands of the Lord.

The four-day camp was marked by a well-structured programme that included daily Holy Mass, personal and community prayer, Rosary, input sessions, interactive discussions, games, quizzes, and moments of informal family gatherings. Several Salesian priests and brothers served as resource persons, offering guidance on Salesian life, priesthood, religious vocation, and the importance of prayer and discernment. The sessions helped the candidates gain a deeper understanding of the Salesian charism, the life of St. John Bosco, and the call to serve the young, especially the poor and the marginalized.

The vocation team, under the guidance of the vocation promoter Rev Fr John Mathias Mrong Marak SDB and the brothers in charge, accompanied the candidates closely, creating a warm and welcoming environment where the young men felt free to ask questions, share their experiences, and reflect seriously on God’s call. The spirit of fraternity, joy, and simplicity that characterized the camp left a deep impression on the participants.
