The VIII Regional Congress 2026 of the Salesian Cooperators of the South Asia Region was held from 16 to 18 January 2026 at the Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Guwahati. The regional gathering brought together Salesian Cooperators from different provinces and zones of South Asia for prayer, reflection, formation, and fraternal sharing, centred on the theme β€œTo know in order to revitalise.”

The Congress commenced on Friday, 16 January 2026, with the arrival and registration of participants, followed by a Holy Mass in the evening. The Eucharistic celebration set a spiritual tone for the days ahead and marked the beginning of the common journey of renewal and recommitment to the Salesian charism.

Saturday, 17 January 2026, marked the formal inauguration of the Congress. The day began with Morning Prayer and an Opening Ceremony that included a solemn procession with the Regional, Zonal, and Provincial flags, symbolising unity in diversity. The Inaugural Function featured a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Joseph Manippadam, SDB and a message by Rev. Sr. Mable Guthorp, FMA, Provincial, Guwahati. A series of animation talks highlighted the spirit and mission of the Salesian Family, leadership among lay collaborators, and commitment to the six-year programme of the Association. The Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Manippadam, SDB, Regional Delegate for South Asia, further deepened the spiritual focus of the Congress.

The final day, Sunday, 18 January 2026, began with Morning Prayer and the Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial, Guwahati. The programme included reflections on the leadership of St Maria Domenica Mazzarello, presentations of the Annual and Financial Reports, and an animation talk on formation as a key to restoration. The Congress also witnessed zonal elections, marking an important step in strengthening regional coordination and leadership.

The VIII Regional Congress 2026 concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by lunch and departure. The gathering proved to be a meaningful platform for the Salesian Cooperators of South Asia to renew their identity, deepen their understanding of the Salesian mission, and strengthen their commitment to serve the Church and society in the spirit of Don Bosco.
