A three-day Charismatic Retreat under the theme “Speak, Lord, Your Servant is Listening” (1 Samuel 3:10) commenced at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Haflong, on the evening of 6 November 2026. The retreat, scheduled from 6 to 8 November, brings together the faithful from various sub-centres of the parish for prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal.
The programme began at 4:00 p.m. with an introductory address by Rev. Fr. Albert D. Sangma, Rector and Parish Priest, who welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude for their enthusiastic response. He also introduced the retreat preacher, Rev. Fr. Thadeus Kujur, thanking him for accepting the invitation to lead the three-day spiritual programme for the parish community.
On behalf of the parish, Fr. Thadeus Kujur was felicitated by Mrs. Gloria Sumer, Joint Secretary of the Parish Council, with a traditional Karbi Poho as a gesture of welcome and appreciation. A large number of faithful from the various sub-centres gathered for the occasion, creating an atmosphere of joyful anticipation and prayerful expectation.
The retreat officially commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Thadeus Kujur. Rev. Fr. Albert D. Sangma, Rev. Fr. Xavier Beck, Rev. Fr. P. J. Joseph and Rev. Fr. John Ngouning concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration.
Inspired by the biblical encounter between God and the young Samuel, the retreat theme invites the faithful to cultivate a listening heart and become attentive to God’s voice in their daily lives. It encourages everyone to respond with humility, openness and obedience to the Lord’s call.
The three-day spiritual gathering is expected to provide the parish community with an opportunity for deeper prayer, personal conversion and renewal in the Holy Spirit. As the faithful come together in the presence of the Lord, the retreat seeks to strengthen their faith and renew their commitment to their life and witness.
