On 29 May 2026, thirty-three (33) young aspirants, ten (10) from the Province of Guwahati were formally initiated into the Salesian Novitiate Life at St. Dominic Savio Novitiate, Don Bosco Sunnyside, Upper Shillong, in a solemn ceremony presided over by Rev. Fr. Jeevan Lakra, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong.

In his homily, Fr. Jeevan Lakra thanked God for the gift of vocations, saying, “We thank God for this gift.” He encouraged the new novices to live their novitiate year with prayer, humility, fraternity, and a deep commitment to the Salesian charism of St. John Bosco.

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Olphindro Paul Lyngkot, SDB, Novice Master, requested the prayers of the faithful for the newly initiated novices. “Kindly pray for them,” he appealed, reminding everyone that the novitiate is an important period of spiritual growth and discernment.

He also assured the faithful of the prayers of the novitiate community, saying, “We too are praying for you.” He emphasized the spiritual bond between the Salesian community and the people they serve through mutual prayer and support.

The celebration was attended by Salesian priests, religious, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to pray for the perseverance and vocation journey of the new novices.
