A solemn and joyful Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by the Salesians of Tura on 22 June 2026 to honor Khasi students who have successfully completed their Masters and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programmes. The celebration, marked by a spirit of gratitude and community, brought together students, faculty, and well-wishers in a meaningful act of worship and fellowship.
Fr. Cornelius Myrthong SDB presided over the Holy Eucharist and delivered an inspiring homily, reflecting on the journey of the graduating students and encouraging them to carry the light of their faith and education into their future endeavours. His words resonated deeply with the congregation, reminding all present that academic achievement is a gift to be shared in service to others.
The celebration was graciously hosted by the St. Xavier’s ommunity of MCJ Sisters, whose warmth and hospitality set a fitting tone for the occasion. The sisters ensured that the entire event was carried out with care, dignity, and a genuine sense of community spirit.
Following the Mass, a brief felicitation programme was held in honour of the graduating students. The gathering took the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the students for their active contributions and wholehearted participation in the faith life of their community throughout their years of study. Their involvement in various aspects of communal and spiritual life was acknowledged as a source of enrichment for all.
A special highlight of the liturgy was the participation of the aspirants of the St. Xavier’s ommunity, whose prayerful presence and musical contributions added grace and beauty to the celebration, enhancing the overall spirit of worship.
After the conclusion of the sacred rites, all attendees were treated to a warm fraternal meal, providing an opportunity to bond, share stories, and celebrate the milestone in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. The meal reflected the communal spirit that had defined the students’ time in the academic and faith community.
The programme was brought to a close with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Serious Ingjal, who expressed sincere gratitude to God for His guidance and blessings throughout the academic journey. Mr. Ingjal also extended warm appreciation to all who had contributed — through prayer, effort, and generosity — to making the day a memorable and resounding success.
The event stood as a beautiful testament to the harmonious integration of academic excellence and faith formation, leaving all present with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. Ministry for the Khasi students in Tura is being assisted by the Rongkhon Parish community is completing two years now.
