As part of the preparations for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee of Tangla Parish, a special Grandparents’ Day celebration was organised on Sunday, 11 October 2026, bringing together 210 grandparents, both men and women, from various villages of the parish.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr Bhaskar Raj Chinthamallam SDB, Rector and Parish Priest. The gathering provided an opportunity for the parish community to express its gratitude and appreciation for the invaluable contribution of grandparents to family life, the Church, and society.
Following the Holy Mass, a special felicitation programme was organised to honour the grandparents. The gesture was a mark of respect and recognition for their love, sacrifices, wisdom, and lifelong commitment to nurturing families and passing on faith and Christian values to younger generations.
The participation of 210 grandparents from different villages made the occasion a meaningful expression of unity, fellowship, and intergenerational bonding within the parish. Their presence also highlighted the important role of the elderly in preserving family traditions, strengthening community relationships, and keeping the faith alive across generations.
The celebration formed part of Tangla Parish’s spiritual and pastoral preparations for its Platinum Jubilee, creating an opportunity to honour the senior members of the community and acknowledge their significant place in the life and mission of the Church.
The Grandparents’ Day celebration was a fitting tribute to the elders of Tangla Parish, whose lives and experiences continue to inspire the younger generations as the parish prepares to celebrate this significant milestone in its history.
