As part of the monthly pastoral programme of Holy Cross Church, Rongkhon Parish, a One-Day Sunday School Animation Programme was organized at Alakgipokgre Circle, bringing together around 160 Sunday School children and 25 teachers from the five Community villages under the Alakgipokgre Sub-Centre.

The day-long programme focused on nurturing the faith of young Catholics through prayer, catechesis, fellowship, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The programme began with a prayer service, followed by a welcome from Rev. Fr. Justin Chinapparaj SDB, who encouraged the children to grow in faith, love Jesus wholeheartedly, and actively participate in Sunday School. He reminded them that Sunday School plays a vital role in forming human values and deepening their relationship with God.

The animation programme featured sessions by dedicated resource persons. Rev. Sr. Elizabeth Ch. Marak spoke on the importance of Sunday School in the faith formation of Catholic children, emphasizing Christ’s unconditional love for every child. Sr. Krenila Sangma delivered a message on God’s abundant blessings upon children and highlighted the urgent need for strong Christian formation among the younger generation.

Adding vibrancy to the programme, Br. Johny Bosco Mardi led the children in lively animation sessions through action songs, dances, games, and meaningful short stories that communicated Gospel values in an engaging and enjoyable manner. The parish youth group also played an active role throughout the programme, assisting with the various activities and creating an atmosphere of joy, enthusiasm, and active participation.

The participants also gathered in prayer to recite the Holy Rosary before taking part in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, which served as the spiritual highlight of the programme. The children participated with reverence and devotion, expressing their love for God through active involvement in the liturgy.

Following the fellowship meal, the programme continued with interactive faith-based activities that encouraged learning, reflection, and fellowship among the participants. The day concluded with a closing prayer and words of gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.
