The Summer Youth Camp 2026, themed “Animating Young Hearts in the Spirit of Don Bosco,” was successfully held from 17 to 19 July 2026 at Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon. Organised by the Salesian Province of Guwahati in collaboration with ICYM-Satgaon Parish (SYM), the three-day camp brought together more than 300 young participants for an enriching experience of faith formation, leadership development, fellowship, and cultural celebration.

The camp began with the registration of participants, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony in front of the parish hall. The formal inaugural programme included the lighting of the lamp, Bible reading, prayer dance, and a warm welcome to the participants. The inaugural session was graced by Rev. Fr. Joseph Teron, SDB, who delivered the keynote address, inspiring the youth to become responsible and committed youths. Fr. Albert Thyrniang SDB, Parish Priest, welcomed the gathering and encouraged the participants to make the most of the camp. The inauguration was also attended by Rev. Fr. Abraham Kanathu, SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Sojong, along with other Salesian priests from Sojong.

Throughout the three days, the camp offered a rich programme comprising motivational talks, Youth Alive sessions, group discussions, interactive games, and faith formation activities designed to nurture the spiritual, personal, and social growth of the participants.

A significant highlight of the camp was a session by Fr. Albert Thyrniang SDB, who also serves as the Provincial Coordinator for the Migrants’ Desk. Presenting the findings of the recently conducted migrant workers’ survey in the parish, he challenged the young people to become agents of positive change by addressing the growing issue of migration and preparing themselves through education, skills, and responsible leadership.

The spiritual atmosphere of the camp was deepened through the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist each day. The opening day’s Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Albert Thyrniang. On the second day, the Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Abraham Kanathu, SDB, while the concluding Eucharistic celebration was led by Rev. Fr. Paul Rabha, SDB, Director of Don Bosco Skill Training Institute (DBSTI), Tezpur. In his homily, Fr. Rabha encouraged the youth with the Gospel-inspired message, “We are in the world but not of the world,” urging them to cultivate practical skills, remain rooted in Christian values, and confidently build a brighter future.

The evenings came alive with village-wise dance competitions and vibrant cultural performances presented by the various groups. These activities not only showcased the talents of the participants but also fostered unity, teamwork, and friendship among the youth.

The camp concluded with a closing ceremony, evaluation session, fellowship lunch, and the departure of participants at around 3:30 p.m.
