The Summer Time Youth Ministry (STYM) 2026 commenced on a vibrant and prayerful note at Holy Cross Church, Rongkhon on July 11, 2026, bringing together around 80 young participants for the first day of faith formation, fellowship, and youth animation.

The programme began with a warm welcome by the Masters of Ceremonies, Mr. Sanday Marak, President of the Parish Youth, and Ms. Senganchi Marak, Secretary, who welcomed the participants and guests with enthusiasm.

The inaugural ceremony opened with a hymn invoking the Holy Spirit, followed by the proclamation of the Word of God by a youth participant and the opening prayer led by the parish catechist. A graceful prayer dance presented by the youth of Cherangre Sub-Centre added a meaningful spiritual touch to the occasion. Rev. Fr. Justin, SDB, delivered the welcome address, encouraging the young people to make the most of the camp by deepening their relationship with God and one another. The parish youth then presented a welcome song, after which the invited guests were felicitated and the Salesian brothers introduced themselves to the gathering. The inaugural programme concluded with an inspiring message from the Parish Priest, who urged the youth to grow in faith, discipline, and service, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the former Youth President.

Following the inaugural programme, the participants assembled outside the church for the ceremonial flag hoisting led by Rev. Fr. Januarius Sangma, SDB, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Centre for Learning, Tura. The spiritual activities then continued with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the praying of the Holy Rosary, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, offering the participants a grace-filled beginning to the camp.

The formation sessions commenced with the first input conducted by Br. Jeniberth, who engaged the participants through an interactive and faith-centred session. After supper the youth gathered for practice sessions in preparation for the days ahead.

The evening concluded with a lively singing competition, group activities, orientation, and the division of participants into various groups, fostering teamwork and friendship among the campers. The day ended with the traditional Salesian Good Night prayer delivered by Br. Jeniberth.
