The Summer Time Youth Camp at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Doomni, was inaugurated on 28 July, bringing together more than 500 enthusiastic young people for a vibrant programme of faith formation, leadership development, and fellowship under the theme, “Animating Young Hearts in the Spirit of Don Bosco.”

The inaugural ceremony began with a welcome to the Chief Guest, Sir Augustus Tigga, Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). The programme commenced with the hoisting of the STYM Flag by the chief guest, symbolizing unity and the spirit of service to the young.

The camp was officially declared open by Fr P. A. Peter SDB, Parish Priest of Doomni Parish. The inauguration continued with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, signifying the triumph of knowledge, hope, and wisdom over darkness.

Addressing the gathering, Sir Augustus Tigga spoke on the theme “Leadership,” encouraging the young participants to become responsible, honest, and service-oriented leaders capable of bringing positive change to society. He urged them to cultivate self-confidence, discipline, and integrity while remaining committed to serving their communities.

The second session was led by Dr Anil Kujur, who highlighted the importance of education as a powerful instrument for personal growth, empowerment, and nation-building. He inspired the youth to pursue academic excellence, embrace sound values, and use education as a means of transforming their lives and contributing meaningfully to society.

The day also featured a variety of interactive group activities, including discussions and team-building exercises. These sessions encouraged friendship, cooperation, creativity, and leadership, providing participants with opportunities to learn from one another while strengthening their interpersonal skills.

The opening day concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which the participants offered thanks to God for the successful commencement of the camp and prayed for His guidance and blessings throughout the remaining days.
