The Summer Youth Camp 2026 was successfully organized by the Salesian Province of Guwahati in collaboration with the Youth of Amkachi and Umswai at St. Paul’s Parish, Amkachi, from 24th to 26th July 2026. The three-day camp was conducted by Brothers from Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai namely: Br. Jeniberth Sangma, Br. Jeevan Chandra Kerketta, Br. Sanjay Xalxo, and Br. Akash CST, with the objective of inspiring young people to grow spiritually, morally, and socially under the theme, “Come, Be Inspired. Come, Be Transformed”.
The camp commenced on Friday, 24th July, with the registration of participants in the afternoon. Following in the evening at 6:30 pm the camp was formally inaugurated, and Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim, the Vice Provincial was present. The Parish Priest, Fr. Joachim Pumah officially welcomed the brothers and the participants from both the parishes. Thereafter, the adoration helped the youth to set a tone to the camp.
On the second day, Saturday, 25th July, the Vice Provincial celebrated the Holy Mass for the Youth in the morning. Throughout the day, the brothers through their lively animation and enriching sessions kept the youth alive and active and thus led to the holistic development. Each session was preceded by energizing warm-up activities and followed by opportunities for discussion and interaction. The participants also enjoyed games, and recreational activities that strengthened friendship and teamwork. In the evening, the youth participated in Eucharistic Adoration conducted by the Sisters and hence the youth also able to go for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, fostering spiritual renewal. The day concluded with a vibrant group dance competition, and the night prayer.
On Sunday, 26th July, the participants gathered for morning prayer, meditation, and the final sessions was taken. At 10:00 am the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by the Parish Priest. Soon after the Holy Mass the concluding programme with an evaluation session, declaration of the group dance competition results, prize distribution, and felicitation of brothers were done. Thereafter the camp was concluded with the sumptuous lunch for the participants.
This Summer Youth Camp successfully blended spiritual formation, leadership training, personal growth, recreation, and community building. The inspiring sessions, interactive activities, prayer experiences, and cultural programmes enabled the participants to deepen their faith, develop the leadership qualities, and build lasting friendships. The dedicated efforts of the organizing team, parish leaders, volunteers, the Youth of Amkachi and Umswai, and all collaborators ensured the smooth conduct of this camp.
The camp concluded with hearts filled with gratitude and renewed enthusiasm to become responsible Christian youth, inspired by the spirit of Don Bosco, ready to serve God, the Church, and society. It was truly a transformative experience that reflected the camp’s theme: “Come, Be Inspired. Come, Be Transformed.”
