The faithful of Monjurgaon under Kumarikata Parish rejoiced as the newly constructed St. Thérèse of Lisieux Chapel was solemnly blessed and inaugurated on Sunday, 15 February 2026, in a prayerful and grace-filled celebration.

The chapel, established in 1984 and now renewed in beauty and devotion, was dedicated in loving memory of Marjorie and Patrick Maio. The commemorative plaque marking the occasion was unveiled during the ceremony, signifying a historic moment for the Catholic community of the area.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration and presided over the rite of blessing. In his homily, Fr. Provincial emphasized the profound meaning of the Church as the Body of Christ. “You are the members of this Body,” he reminded the faithful. “We are called to be united in Christ, to grow together in faith, and to spread the Good News of Jesus through our lives.” He encouraged the community to make the chapel not merely a physical structure but a living center of prayer, unity, and mission.

Fr. Nicodim Aind, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Sashipur, delivered the sermon during the celebration. He urged the faithful to cultivate a deep sense of gratitude to God for His countless blessings and to one another for the gift of community. He stressed the importance of being firmly rooted in faith, especially amid the challenges of modern life. “A grateful heart and a faith-filled life,” he said, “will keep us strong and steadfast in Christ.”

The celebration was marked by active participation of parishioners, benefactors, and well-wishers, who gathered in large numbers to witness this significant milestone. Hymns of praise, solemn prayers, and heartfelt thanksgiving filled the atmosphere as the community entrusted the new chapel to the patronage of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
