The St Joseph Sodality Williamnagar Zonal Convention 2026 was inaugurated at Holy Family Parish, Rongjeng, on 18 September, bringing together members of the St Joseph Sodality from parishes within the Williamnagar Zone for prayer, fellowship and spiritual renewal.
The inaugural programme began with the singing of the Hymn to the Holy Spirit, followed by the opening prayer. Pa Jebing G. Momin, St Joseph Sodality President of Mangsang Parish, delivered the welcome address, while Pa Morning Ch. Momin, St Joseph Sodality President of Chidimit Parish, offered the introductory remarks.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Januarius S. Sangma SDB, formally inaugurated the convention by unveiling the Williamnagar Zonal St Joseph Sodality Flag and leading the gathering in the St Joseph Sodality Anthem. Representatives of the participating parishes subsequently joined in the ceremonial raising of the SJS flag.
During the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Januarius S. Sangma SDB highlighted the significance of dedicating the church at Rongjeng to the Holy Family. He said that the late Fr. Busolin Battista SDB, in dedicating the church to the Holy Family, intended to encourage the families of Rongjeng Parish to model their lives on the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Fr. Januarius also encouraged the members to follow the example of St Joseph, particularly in caring for and guiding their families. “Just as St Joseph protected the Holy Family of Nazareth, you too are called to guide your children and protect them from modern vices, addictions and the intrusion of modern communication,” he said.
The programme also included an address by the SJS Williamnagar Zonal President, the handing over of responsibilities to SJS Rongjeng Parish, and the presentation of the convention programme. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by the SJS Williamnagar Zonal General Secretary.
