St. Francis Xavier Higher Secondary School, Dotma, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration brought together students, teachers, staff and members of the school community to commemorate the historic occasion and honour the nation’s long journey towards freedom.
The programme was graced by Rev. Fr. Ajay Xaxa, SDB, as the Chief Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Xaxa recalled the sacrifices, struggles and selfless contributions of the countless men and women who worked and suffered for the freedom of India.
He reminded the students that the freedom they enjoy today comes with a responsibility to become responsible citizens and to contribute positively to the progress, peace and unity of the nation. He encouraged them to cherish the values for which the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives and to uphold these values in their daily lives.
The celebration provided the school community with an opportunity to express gratitude for the nation’s freedom while renewing its commitment to responsible citizenship, unity and service to the country. The patriotic spirit and enthusiastic participation of the students made the 80th Independence Day celebration a memorable occasion at St. Francis Xavier Higher Secondary School, Dotma.
