St. Francis Xavier Higher Secondary School, Dotma, organized an Arts and Science Exhibition on 29 August 2026 under the inspiring theme, “Beyond the Classroom: Explore, Experiment, Express.” The exhibition provided students with a vibrant platform to move beyond textbook learning and demonstrate their creativity, innovation, practical knowledge and scientific curiosity.
An inaugural programme was held at the Don Bosco Hall. The programme began with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Fr. Augustine Karottupuram SDB, followed by the felicitation of the invited guests, Fr. Sebastian Edathumparambil SDB, Rector and Parish Priest; Fr. Francis Xavier SDB; Fr. Ajay Xaxa SDB and Fr. Emmanuel Marngar SDB.
Welcoming the gathering, the Principal, Fr. Somesh Tudu SDB, emphasized the importance of learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. He noted that education should nurture creativity, innovation, curiosity and the spirit of experimentation, while contributing to the all-round development of students. He encouraged the students to see education not merely as preparation for examinations but as a means of preparing themselves for life and service to society.
Adding cultural colour to the inaugural programme, the girls of Class VIII presented a graceful performance of the Bodo traditional dance, Bagurumba, which was warmly appreciated by the gathering.
In his message, Chief Guest Fr. Augustine Karottupuram SDB highlighted the significant role of young people in promoting sustainable development. Appreciating the efforts of the students and teachers, he recalled his own experience of organizing similar educational events during his time as a cleric. He expressed his joy at witnessing the talents, creativity and innovative abilities of the students and encouraged them to continue learning through exploration and practical experiences.
Following the inaugural programme, Fr. Augustine, accompanied by the invited guests, proceeded to the exhibition area and formally inaugurated the exhibition by cutting the ribbon.
The exhibition featured a wide range of science models, arts and crafts, innovative projects, creative displays, chemical experiments, Bodo traditional food and cultural exhibits. The event was organized on a house-wise basis, with students displaying their projects in different verandas and floors of the school. Four judges were appointed to assess the exhibits and students’ presentations.
The exhibition offered students an opportunity to explore, experiment, express, communicate and collaborate. By connecting classroom theories with practical applications, the event helped students understand the relevance of their learning in everyday life and its potential contribution to society. It also fostered teamwork, confidence, problem-solving abilities, communication skills and creative thinking.
The exhibition attracted more than 300 students from six neighbouring schools, accompanied by their teachers. A large number of parents and well-wishers also visited the exhibition and appreciated the impressive displays and presentations. Visitors commended the students for their creativity, skills, talents, enthusiasm and spirit of collaboration.
