Most Rev. Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil, D.D., Bishop of Bongaigaon during the Annual Sabha at Barpeta Road.

The St. Francis D’ Sales Parish, Barpeta Road, came together in a spirit of faith and fellowship for its Annual Parish Sabha on Sunday, 27th October 2025. The solemn and joyous occasion was marked by the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil, D.D., Bishop of Bongaigaon, and concelebrated by the Salesian Fathers serving in the parish.

The celebration began with a warm welcome extended by Rev. Fr. Jonas Toppo, SDB, Parish Priest, who greeted the bishop, the clergy, and all the faithful gathered for the occasion. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the bishop’s presence and pastoral concern for the parish community. The Holy Mass, animated with active participation by the parishioners, reflected the unity and vibrancy of the faith community.

In his homily, Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil commended the parish for its commendable contributions to the mission of the Church, particularly in the areas of evangelization, education, and social outreach. He encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in their faith and continue serving the people of God through active participation in the sacramental life and works of charity. The bishop also lauded the leadership and commitment of the parish team, the various associations, and the laity who collaborate to strengthen the parish’s spiritual and pastoral life.

The parishioners, in turn, expressed their joy and gratitude by offering a heartfelt welcome to the bishop through songs, prayers, and gestures of affection. The celebration was enriched by the participation of youth, children, and different groups of the parish, symbolizing the diversity and unity of the community.

The Annual Parish Sabha served as a moment of thanksgiving for the blessings received throughout the year and as a time for renewal of commitment to the Church’s mission. The event concluded with a fellowship meal, fostering a deeper sense of communion among the faithful.
