Students of St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Garobadha participated in the Athletics Competition held on 6th and 7th May 2026, organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer, South West Garo Hills, Ampati. The sporting event brought together young athletes from various schools across the district, providing a platform to showcase their athletic talents and competitive spirit.

The programme was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Mongera M. Marak, who encouraged the students to strive for excellence in sports and academics alike.

The students of St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School displayed remarkable talent, discipline, and sportsmanship, bringing laurels to the institution through their outstanding performances in various track and field events.

In the Under-14 Girls category, Riya Das secured the 1st position in the 600 Meter Race, while Waltesa M. Marak achieved the 2nd position in the same event. In the Under-14 Boys category, Tachiyang Koch secured the 2nd position in the 600 Meter Race.

The Under-16 category witnessed several commendable performances from the school athletes. Allisha Chekambe Ch. Sangma secured the 1st position in the 60 Meter Race with an impressive timing of 09.44 seconds. Joyram Koch also excelled by securing the 1st position in the 60 Meter Race with a timing of 08.16 seconds and further added glory by winning the 2nd position in Long Jump with a distance of 3.74 meters. Dayungcome M. Marak secured the 2nd position in Shot Put with a throw of 10.49 meters, while Silgrime Ch. Marak achieved the 3rd position in Javelin Throw with a distance of 11.90 meters.

In the Under-18 category, Niksime Ch. Marak brought pride to the school by securing the 1st position in the 1000 Meter Race. John Henry Ch. Sangma secured the 2nd position in Shot Put. The Under-18 Boys team achieved the 2nd position in the 4×100 Meter Relay with a timing of 55.86 seconds, while the Under-18 Girls team emerged victorious by securing the 1st position in the 4×100 Meter Relay with a timing of 1 minute 12.18 seconds.

Adding to the school’s achievements, the Under-16 Boys team secured the 3rd position in the Medley Relay Race with a timing of 2 minutes 42.41 seconds.

The school also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the teachers who accompanied and guided the students throughout the competition, motivating them to perform to the best of their abilities.
