St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Garobadha, joyfully inaugurated the New Academic Year 2026 on 5 February 2026 with a prayerful and vibrant ceremony centred on the theme “Rooted in Wisdom, Growing in Excellence.” The programme reflected the school’s enduring commitment to holistic education grounded in values, knowledge, and the pursuit of excellence.
The inauguration began with a warm welcome address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, who cordially greeted the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma, along with the staff and students. In his inspiring address, the Principal encouraged students to remain rooted in wisdom, discipline, and moral values while striving for academic excellence and personal growth. He also called upon the entire school community to work together in fostering a nurturing and progressive learning environment.
The morning assembly was meaningfully conducted by the students of Class X A. Through prayer and reflection, they set a positive and spiritual tone for the new academic year. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was carried out by Rev. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma, Rev. Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, Md. Rupali D. Sangma, Sir Williamson M. Marak, and the Captains of the Four Houses, symbolising the spread of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.
A solemn scripture reading reminded the gathering of the importance of faith and moral guidance in daily life. One of the highlights of the programme was the presentation of symbolic articles by students. The Holy Bible represented faith and spiritual growth, a book symbolised knowledge, sports gear highlighted physical fitness and teamwork, and a plant signified growth and care for the environment—beautifully echoing the theme of the year.
The prayers of intercession were led by students, invoking God’s blessings upon the school, staff, students, and the wider community. This was followed by the hoisting of the school flag by the Chief Guest, fostering a sense of pride, unity, and commitment among all present. The singing of the School Anthem further strengthened the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the institution.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma, delivered a motivating message, urging students to practise discipline, set clear goals in life, and grow into responsible citizens. He highlighted the importance of value-based and skill-based education in shaping the future of young learners.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a student, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the event. The closing blessing song, “There Shall Be Showers of Blessings,” filled the atmosphere with hope, joy, and prayerful anticipation for the year ahead.
