The Salesian Vocation Camp for the Garo Hills Region, held at Don Bosco Secondary School, Tura, concluded on the morning of 08 January 2026 with the celebration of the Holy Mass. The concluding Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr Threnius N. Sangma SDB, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School, Tura.

The four-day camp, organised by the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, from 05 to 08 January 2026, brought together aspiring young boys from different parts of the Garo Hills who are discerning a call to the Salesian way of life. Inspired by the theme “Come and See” (Jn 1:39), the camp provided the participants with a meaningful experience of prayer, learning, fraternity, and joyful interaction in the spirit of Don Bosco.

During the camp, the participants were guided through various sessions by experienced Salesian priests and brothers. Sessions were animated by Rev. Fr Bivan Mukhim SDB, Vice-Provincial, Rev. Fr Anthony A. Sangma SDB, Dean of Studies, Bosco Mount, Rev. Fr Jogesh B. Sangma SDB, Principal of Don Bosco’s Centre for Learning, Tura, Rev. Fr Januarius S. Sangma SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura, Rev. Fr Martin R. Marak SDB, Principal of Rongkhon Don Bosco, and other resource persons. The inputs helped the participants to understand Salesian life, vocation discernment, and the mission of Don Bosco among the young.

The daily schedule included Holy Mass, prayer services, Rosary, sessions, quizzes on Don Bosco, games, and family gatherings, fostering both spiritual growth and a sense of Salesian family among the participants. The brothers-in-charge and members of the vocation team accompanied the boys closely, ensuring a warm and encouraging environment throughout the camp.

In his homily during the concluding Mass, Fr Threnius N. Sangma SDB exhorted the participants to listen attentively to God’s call in their lives and to courageously respond with generosity and trust, following the example of young Dominic Savio and the spirit of St John Bosco.

The camp ended with gratitude to God for the fruitful days spent together and with renewed enthusiasm among the participants to continue discerning their vocation. The programme was coordinated under the leadership of Rev. Fr John Mathias Mrong Marak SDB, Vocation Promoter, with the support of the Salesian community of Don Bosco School, Tura.
