The first Salesian Vocation Camp for post-matric boys who have completed the Class X examinations under the Meghalaya Board of School Education commenced at Don Bosco Mendal on 21 February 2026.

The inauguration ceremony began with a hymn to the Holy Spirit, invoking God’s blessings upon the camp, the organizers, and all the participants. This was followed by a proclamation of the Word of God from the Gospel of Gospel of Matthew (9:35–38), inspiring everyone to reflect deeply on their vocation and purpose in life. The passage, reminding the faithful that “the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few,” set the spiritual tone for the days ahead.

A prayer was led by Br. Sunit Ekka SDB, entrusting the camp and its participants to God’s loving providence. The ceremony continued with the lighting of the candles by the chief guest along with the boys, symbolizing the light of knowledge, faith, and divine guidance that will illumine their discernment journey.

Fr. Rector, Fr. Tomy Anikuzhikattil SDB, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of vocation, dedication, and generous service in the spirit of St John Bosco. He encouraged the boys to listen attentively to God’s call and to courageously explore the path the Lord has prepared for them.

Fr. John Mathias Marak SDB, Vocation Promoter expressed words of gratitude to the community for their support and cooperation. He also provided a clear explanation of the camp timetable, outlining the spiritual, academic, recreational, and interactive sessions planned to help the boys grow holistically during their stay.

The inaugural programme concluded on a hymn to Don Bosco sung enthusiastically by all the participants, marking a blessed and hopeful beginning to the Salesian Vocation Camp at Mendal.
