The renewal of Religious Vows of nine Salesians in Initial Formation, seven from the Salesian Province of Guwahati (ING) and two from the Salesian Province of Shillong (INS) took place prayerfully on the morning of 24 May 2026 at the Don Bosco Centre of Learning (DBCL), Guwahati.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jogesh B. Sangma SDB, Rector of DBCL, who received the vows of the brothers as the delegate of the Provincial. The celebration coincided with the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, adding deeper spiritual significance to the occasion.

In his inspiring and meaningful homily, Fr. Jogesh B. Sangma called upon the brothers to imitate the disciples at Pentecost who, filled with the Holy Spirit, courageously went out to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ with zeal and conviction. He encouraged the brothers to remain joyful, fearless, and steadfast in their Salesian vocation as they continue their journey of consecrated life and mission.

Referring to the maternal protection of Mary Help of Christians, Fr. Jogesh reminded the brothers to entrust their lives and vocation to her loving guidance. He emphasized the Salesian spirit of dedication, service, and missionary zeal, urging them to become authentic witnesses of Christ among the young and the poor.

Addressing the hostellers present for the celebration, Fr. Jogesh warmly invited them to discern their vocation generously and to become part of the Salesian Congregation. His memorable words, “Monk or no monk, be with Don Bosco,” drew smiles and appreciation from the congregation while highlighting the enduring relevance of Don Bosco’s charism and mission for young people today.

The celebration concluded with prayers of thanksgiving and joyful fellowship as the renewed brothers recommitted themselves to live the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience in the spirit of St. John Bosco.
