The Regional Meeting of the Assam Plain was held on 29 January 2026 at the Hubert D’Rosario Aspirantate, Sirajuli. The meeting brought together the confreres of the Assam Plain Region for reflection, sharing, and animation.

The programme began with a welcome by the Sirajuli community. The aspirants greeted the participants with a welcome song, a choir performance, and a cultural dance, setting a joyful and fraternal tone for the gathering. Rev. Fr. Ethelbert Minj, SDB, Rector of the Aspirantate, officially welcomed Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, and his team. Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Ethelbert remarked that the frequent visits of the Provincial and his team to Sirajuli clearly reflect their concern for the community and the holistic formation of the aspirants. He also extended a cordial welcome to all the confreres attending the regional meeting.

Addressing the aspirants, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, encouraged them to give their best to their studies and to respond generously to the call of the Lord. He emphasized that every stage of formation should help them to discover and discern God’s plan in their lives.

The confreres were then animated on the Strenna 2026 of the Rector Major by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial. Speaking on the theme “Do Whatever He Tells You,” Fr. Bivan explained that the Strenna helps the Salesian Family to understand the mind of the Rector Major and offers the Congregation a concrete project of apostolate. He highlighted its relevance for personal life, community living, and mission.

This was followed by sharing from the communities and the presentation of community reports, which were moderated by Rev. Fr. Nicodim Aind, SDB, Provincial Council Member. The session provided an opportunity for mutual learning and reflection on the life and mission of the communities in the region.

At the conclusion of the reports, the Provincial shared his observations and guidance. He expressed his deep appreciation for the dedicated service of the confreres in their respective communities, while also cautioning against the danger of slipping into an “easy life” or a “maintenance mode.” Such an attitude, he noted, does not serve the apostolate or the mission of the Congregation. He stressed that the mission is always a shared responsibility of the community and called for greater collaboration and commitment in carrying forward the Salesian mission. The Provincial also urged the confreres to actively support the Don Bosco Socio-Technical Institute, Tezpur, by encouraging young people from parishes and institutions to enrol in its programmes and by fostering vocations from their centres.

The Regional Meeting concluded with a hymn to Don Bosco and a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Victor Tigga, SDB, bringing the gathering to a prayerful and meaningful close.
