The Province organized the Regional Meeting for the BTR Region at Don Bosco College, Chapaguri on 21st June 2025. The gathering brought together Salesians from across the region to engage in meaningful discussions and reflections aimed at strengthening the mission and addressing local pastoral and educational concerns.

The meeting commenced at 9:30 AM with welcome songs by the students of Don Bosco College, Chapaguri. A hymn was then sung to invoke God’s blessings, followed by a prayer led by Rev Fr Francis Basumatary SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Kokrajhar. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of Christ guiding the day’s proceedings.

Rev Fr Abhilash Vadakkekara SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College Chapaguri, welcomed the participants with words of encouragement. He stated that the regional meeting is a time to renew, to plan, to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, to deepen collaboration, and to work for greater fidelity.

The keynote address was delivered by the Provincial, Rev Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, who emphasized the importance of unity, discernment, and faithfulness to the Salesian charism in the context of the General Chapter 29 (GC29). He remarked, “The purpose of the meeting is to come together and discuss how we can effectively work for the young people.” He invited everyone present to respond with fidelity to the call and to persevere in their responsibility to serve the young.

He reminded the gathering that every Salesian is possessed by Christ and should radiate God’s love to the world. He concluded by urging everyone not to be solely concerned about their work, but to make Christ the center of their life and apostolate.

The first session of the day focused on an animation on GC29, presented and moderated by Rev Fr Joy Kachappilly SDB, delegate of the GC29 and the Provincial Chapter Moderator. This was followed by a floor discussion, which allowed for clarifications and a dynamic question-and-answer segment with the participants.

After a short coffee break, the second session addressed the concerns of the region, particularly the challenges unique to the BTR Region. Rev Fr Cyriac Vettickathadam SDB moderated this session, facilitating an open and constructive exchange of views among the Salesians. The Rectors and In-charges of the communities shared the particular concerns of their respective communities.

The Provincial later summarized the discussions and thanked the confreres for their dedicated service in their communities. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and a prayer led by Fr Joseph Mung SDB.
