The Region-wise Don Bosco Schools Football Tournament kicked off in spectacular fashion on 7 July 2025 at the SAI Playground, Guwahati, drawing enthusiastic audiences and showcasing the finest young talent across four Salesian regions. Organized by Don Bosco Sport’s Academy of the Province, the one-day competition brought together squads from Tura, Karbi Anglong, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), and the Assam Plains Region.
From the opening whistle, matches were marked by high energy, slick passing and disciplined defending. In the semi-finals, Tura Region edged past the Assam Plains side in a tense encounter, while Karbi Anglong secured a victory over BTR, setting up a much-anticipated final showdown.
In the championship match, Tura Region dominated possession and carved out multiple chances before clinching the title over Karbi Anglong. Their clinical finishing and cohesive teamwork earned them the top podium spot, while the runners-up displayed great heart throughout. BTR claimed third place following a hard-fought victory against Assam Plains in the consolation playoff.
Tournament convenor Fr Kerobin Minj SDB praised all four teams for their “outstanding sportsmanship and tactical discipline,” and extended gratitude to the Principals and in-charges whose support made the day possible. He added, “This event not only highlights individual skill but also the values of teamwork, respect and fair play that Don Bosco Schools cultivate.”
As the final whistle blew, players and supporters alike celebrated a day of spirited competition. With plans already underway for next year’s edition, attention now turns to further developing grassroots football across the Salesian network.
