The Province Team Meeting on Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) was convened on 28th February 2026 in the august presence of the Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial and the Rev. Fr. Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Economer. The meeting brought together members of the Province to review progress, reflect on targets, and renew their commitment towards realizing the goals of the Mission Poverty Eradication initiative.

The programme began with a Hymn to the Holy Spirit and prayer led by Fr. Jimmy Sangma, invoking God’s guidance and blessings upon the deliberations of the day. Fr. Ignatius Gari extended a warm welcome to all present and set the tone for the meeting, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in addressing poverty through coordinated efforts.

In his message on the Province MPE, the Rev. Fr. Provincial reiterated the centrality of Mission Poverty Eradication in the Province’s apostolic vision. He emphasized that the initiative is not merely a project but a concrete expression of the Salesian commitment to serve the poor and marginalized. Expressing confidence in the communities, he stated, “I am sure that all the communities take seriously the recommendations of the Central Team in realizing the goal of Mission Poverty Eradication.” His words served as both encouragement and a call to renewed dedication.

A detailed presentation on the Community Audit of the Province was made by Fr. Ignatius Gari. The audit provided a comprehensive overview of the current status of various communities in relation to the targets set under MPE. The presentation highlighted achievements, identified gaps, and offered insights into areas that require focused attention.

This was followed by a session on the Community Audit and the Province targets conducted by Fr. Tony Pellissery SDB. He facilitated an in-depth discussion on the outputs achieved across different sectors and examined the measurable outcomes linked to the Province’s MPE objectives. Participants engaged actively in evaluating progress and proposing strategies for improved implementation.

After a brief coffee break, the meeting resumed with an interactive session on achieving targets and strengthening strategies. The discussions were marked by openness and collaboration, with members sharing practical suggestions and experiences from their respective communities. The emphasis remained on accountability, transparency, and coordinated action in order to effectively respond to the needs of the poor.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sebastian Horo, who expressed gratitude to the Rev. Fr. Provincial, the Rev. Fr. Economer, and all participants for their valuable contributions and steadfast commitment to the mission.
