The Province convened a Province-level Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) Meeting at the Don Bosco Provincial House on TuesdayAugust 4, 2026, bringing together Salesians and collaborators to strengthen the Province’s commitment to uplifting the poor through a coordinated and accountable mission.

The meeting commenced with the Hymn to the Holy Spirit and an opening prayer led by Fr. George William SDB, invoking God’s guidance for the Province’s ongoing mission among the poor. The participants were welcomed by Fr. Albert Thyrniang SDB, who encouraged everyone to work together with renewed dedication in responding to the needs of the marginalized.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the progress of the Mission Poverty Eradication initiative. Fr. Ignatius Gari SDB presented a report on the Province Team Meeting, followed by a video presentation highlighting the Province’s key focus areas under the MPE programme. He also explained the required documentation needed to effectively record and evaluate the various MPE initiatives undertaken across the Province, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and measurable outcomes.

The participants also attended a session on the Community Audit 2026, animated by Fr. Tony Pellissery SDB, SPCSA in-charge for Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) which underscored the importance of regular evaluation and responsible stewardship of community resources in ensuring that every Salesian presence remains faithful to its mission of service. He also spoke on the community Audit 2026 that will take place on 14 November in all the Salesian Communities.

The highlight of the gathering was the message delivered by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, who reaffirmed the Province’s commitment to the Mission Poverty Eradication (MPE) as a concrete expression of the Salesian charism. He urged every community and institution to make the preferential option for the poor visible through education, skill development, livelihood initiatives, and outreach programmes that restore dignity and hope to those living on the margins of society. He acknowledges the presence of Fr Tony Pellissery SDB and all the confreres who have travelled from far to be part of the meeting.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sebastian Horo, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the planning and implementation of the programme and encouraging every Salesian community to continue translating the Province’s vision of poverty eradication into meaningful action.
