The Province, mourns the passing away of Rev. Fr Xavier Tete, SDB, who died at 6:20 p.m. on 2 October 2026 at St. John’s Hospital, Guwahati. He was 54 years old. The Province expressed its grief at the loss of a dedicated Salesian priest and invited the religious, priests, faithful and friends to pray for the repose of his soul.

Born on 16 June 1972, Fr Xavier Tete made his First Profession on 24 May 2002 and his Perpetual Profession on 23 May 2009. He was ordained a priest on 9 January 2010. He served the Church and the Salesian mission with dedication throughout his religious and priestly life.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at St Joseph’s Co-Cathedral Church, Panbazar, Guwahati, followed by the funeral rites at the Christian Cemetery, Uzanbazar, Guwahati.

On the same day, concelebrated Requiem Masses will be offered at 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Provincial House, before the funeral Mass in the afternoon.

Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, conveyed the condolences of the Salesian Province and invited all to accompany the departed confrere with prayer and Christian hope.

As the Province bids farewell to Fr Xavier, the Salesian community commends his soul to the loving mercy of God, entrusting him to the maternal care of Mary Help of Christians.
