The Province joyfully welcomed the newly professed Salesians who arrived from Sunnyside Novitiate, Upper Shillong, to the Provincial House, Panbazar, on the morning of 25 May 2026. The young confreres were received by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, along with members of the Provincial House community.
The newly professed Salesians were welcomed with the ceremonial Assamese Phoolan Gamosha. The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude as the Province rejoiced in the generous response of these young Salesians who have dedicated their lives to God in the spirit of St. John Bosco.
The newly professed novices, having completed their novitiate formation and made their first religious profession, will now proceed to different Salesian philosophates for their philosophical studies and further formation. Their arrival at the Provincial House marked an important milestone in their Salesian journey as they formally entered into the life and mission of the Province.
During the welcome gathering, Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal congratulated the newly professed confreres and expressed the happiness of the Province in receiving them into the Salesian family of Guwahati Province. He encouraged them to remain faithful to their vocation and to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, discipline, and community life.
Addressing the young Salesians, Fr. Sebastian urged them to take their philosophical studies seriously and strive for excellence in academics as well as in the various responsibilities entrusted to them in their respective communities. He reminded them that formation is not limited to studies alone but also includes growth in spirituality, pastoral zeal, obedience, simplicity, and fraternal charity.
He further encouraged them to make the best use of the opportunities given to them during their years of formation and to prepare themselves well for their future mission among the young, especially the poor and marginalized, following the charism of Don Bosco.
