The Province rejoiced as Dn. Wilson Topno, SDB was ordained a priest, marking a significant milestone in his journey of vocation and service to the Church. The Priestly Ordination was solemnly celebrated on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at 9.30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church, Dibrugarh, Assam. The celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Albert Hemrom, D.D., Bishop of Dibrugarh, who conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders upon the ordinand.

The Eucharistic celebration was marked by deep reverence, prayerfulness, and gratitude as priests, religious, family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to witness this grace-filled moment. In his homily, the Bishop reminded the newly ordained priest of the sacred responsibility entrusted to him—to serve God’s people with humility, compassion, and fidelity, following the example of Christ the Good Shepherd. The laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration, central moments of the ordination rite, deeply moved the congregation and underscored the spiritual significance of the occasion.

Following his ordination, Rev. Fr. Wilson Topno, SDB along with others who were ordained priests along with him conveyed their messages of thanksgiving to all who were instrumental in their formation to the priesthood. Fr Wilson Topno SDB invited the faithful to join him in a Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist, expressing his profound gratitude to God for the gift of priesthood. The Thanksgiving Mass is scheduled for Monday, 12 January 2026, at 9.30 a.m. at Benedikpathar, Rotonpur, Golaghat, Assam. This Eucharistic celebration was envisioned as a moment of thanksgiving not only for the priest himself but also for his family, parish community, benefactors, formators, and all those who accompanied him on his vocational journey.

The theme of thanksgiving resonated strongly throughout the celebrations, echoing the biblical prayer: “May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His holy Church.” Entrusting his priestly ministry to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and under the maternal care of Mary Help of Christians, Fr. Wilson dedicate his life wholeheartedly to the service of young people and the mission of the Salesian Congregation, inspired by St. John Bosco.

The occasion was also a moment of pride and joy for the Salesian Province of Guwahati and the local Church, as the ordination added a new shepherd to the vineyard of the Lord. The celebrations concluded with prayers, congratulations, and fraternal fellowship, as the faithful prayed that the newly ordained priest may always remain faithful to his calling and become a sign of God’s love, mercy, and hope wherever he is sent.
