The Perpetual Profession of Rev. Bro. Lating Kupar Bajanai was solemnly celebrated at Bosco Mount Rongkhon on 26 May 2026 in the presence of confreres, family members, religious, and the faithful. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, who delivered a profound and inspiring homily inviting everyone to deepen their consecrated life in the spirit of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco.

Reflecting on the readings of the day, Fr. Provincial reminded the congregation that every important moment in the life of the Salesian Congregation has always been entrusted to the loving care of Mary. Referring to the image of Mary clothed with the sun from the Book of Revelation, he said that consecrated persons are called to remain faithful and courageous even in a world challenged by secularism, materialism, and spiritual emptiness.

Addressing Bro. Lating Kupar Bajanai, Fr. Sebastian emphasized that perpetual profession is not merely a human achievement but a response to the love of God poured into the heart through the Holy Spirit. Quoting St. Paul, he reminded the congregation that they are “not merely servants but sons and heirs of God,” called to share God’s love generously with others.

The Provincial also reflected on the beauty of the Salesian vocation, recalling how Don Bosco envisioned a community where priests, brothers, and lay collaborators work together for the salvation of the young. He particularly highlighted the invaluable role of the Salesian Brother in evangelization through ordinary daily service in classrooms, workshops, playgrounds, and community life.

Explaining the evangelical counsels, Fr. Sebastian stated that poverty, chastity, and obedience are not burdens but gifts that enlarge the heart for God and His people. Poverty fosters solidarity with the poor, chastity reveals God’s universal love, and obedience becomes a living testimony to God’s will.

Drawing inspiration from the wedding feast at Cana, he encouraged Bro. Lating to imitate Mary’s instruction: “Do whatever He tells you.” He urged him to faithfully “fill the jars with water” through daily acts of service, sacrifice, prayer, and apostolic dedication, trusting that Christ would transform these humble offerings into blessings for many.

Fr. Provincial also addressed the young Salesians in formation, encouraging them to reflect deeply on their own vocation and future commitment to God. He assured them that the Lord who has begun His work in them would faithfully bring it to fulfillment.

During the felicitation programme held after the Holy Mass, Fr. Sebastian described the perpetual profession as a joyful and grace-filled moment for the entire Salesian Congregation and the Province. He noted that religious life is a demanding yet beautiful vocation, where one first takes temporary vows before freely making the lifelong commitment through perpetual profession.

Fr. Sebastian appreciated Bro. Lating for courageously taking this important step and assured him of the continued prayers and support of the confreres and the Province so that he may remain faithful to his vocation throughout his life.

The Provincial also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the family members of Bro. Lating Kupar Bajanai, acknowledging the important role of families in nurturing vocations for the Church and the congregation. He thanked the parents and relatives for their encouragement, sacrifices, and prayers which enabled Bro. Lating to dedicate his life fully to God.

Reflecting on the words of St. Augustine, Fr. Sebastian reminded the faithful that the human heart remains restless until it finds God. He explained that perpetual profession is not the end, but the beginning of a lifelong spiritual journey towards God.

Fr. Provincial further assured Bro. Lating that he is not alone in his vocation but part of the worldwide Salesian Congregation serving the Church in many countries. He encouraged him to remain faithful and joyful in carrying out the Salesian mission entrusted to him.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, followed by prayers and best wishes for Rev. Bro. Lating Kupar Bajanai as he begins this new chapter of his consecrated life.
