On November 10, 2025, a Career Guidance Awareness Program for classes X and XII students was held at St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Garobadha, with the objective of helping students gain clarity about various career options and inspiring them to make informed choices for their future. The program was organized in collaboration with the Past Pupils Association of the school.

The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. with a Welcome Address by the Chair, followed by an Address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, who underlined the importance of career guidance in shaping the future of young learners. In his address, he encouraged students to explore their interests, work hard, and remain open to emerging career opportunities in a fast-changing world.

The resource persons for the day included Dr. Aba Liptos K. Marak, Block Development Officer, Purakhasia; Shri Raymond Z. D. Shira (MCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills; and Mrs. Torali K. Marak (MCS), Assistant Commissioner & BDO, Zizak. The distinguished speakers were warmly welcomed and introduced by the organizing team.

The first session, conducted by Dr. Aba Liptos K. Marak on the topic “Different Avenues of Career,” provided students with valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available in administration, education, healthcare, technology, and entrepreneurship. He stressed the need for self-assessment, discipline, and determination in selecting the right path. His engaging presentation drew enthusiastic participation from the students.

After a short break, Shri Raymond Z. D. Shira (MCS) addressed the gathering on “Scope and Challenges in Civil Services.” Drawing from his own experiences, he shared the realities and rewards of civil service preparation and emphasized qualities such as patience, perseverance, and purpose. His talk was both inspiring and practical, leaving a strong impact on the students.

Mrs. Torali K. Marak (MCS) further motivated the students with an inspiring talk on discipline, commitment, and responsible living. She also shed light on issues affecting young learners today and urged them to stay focused on their goals despite challenges.

A Question Hour followed the sessions, during which students actively engaged with the speakers, seeking advice on qualifications, preparation strategies, and personal development. The interactive exchange reflected the students’ eagerness to plan their futures effectively.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the resource persons, the Past Pupils Association, and all contributors for making the event a success. The Principal appreciated the organizing committee’s efforts and encouraged students to apply the knowledge gained to build meaningful careers.
