On 17 July 2026, a One-Day Orientation Training Programme for teachers was conducted at Don Bosco L.P. School, Rongkhon, bringing together 20 teachers from three sub-centre schools to strengthen their commitment to quality, value-based education in the spirit of Don Bosco.
The participating institutions included Henry Frassy Memorial Secondary School, Chidigre, Don Bosco Secondary School, Alakgipokre, and Don Bosco L.P. School, Chandigre. The programme aimed to enhance the professional competence, educational vision, and collaborative spirit of the teachers serving in these schools.
The programme commenced with the arrival of participants at 9:30 a.m., followed by the inaugural session at 10:00 a.m. The gathering began with a prayer, after which Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Marak, Parish Priest, welcomed the participants and emphasized the vital role of teachers in shaping the lives of young people. Rev. Fr. Justin Arul Chinnaparaj introduced the programme and encouraged the teachers to make the most of the opportunity to enrich their knowledge, skills, and dedication as educators.
The orientation was animated by Rev. Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, who served as the resource person for the day. In the first session, he reflected on the mission and responsibilities of teachers, highlighting the importance of value-based education, professional excellence, and the educational vision of St. John Bosco. Through engaging discussions and practical examples, he inspired the participants to view teaching as a vocation dedicated to forming responsible and compassionate citizens.
Following a tea break, the second session focused on practical aspects of classroom management and effective teaching. Fr. Januarius offered guidance on teacher-student relationships, classroom discipline, teamwork among educators, and continuous personal and professional growth. The interactive session encouraged teachers to share their classroom experiences, raise questions, and exchange ideas on addressing contemporary educational challenges.
The programme concluded with words of appreciation to the resource person, organizers, school management, and all the participants for their active involvement and wholehearted participation. The teachers expressed their gratitude for the enriching sessions, noting that the programme had provided them with valuable insights and renewed inspiration for their ministry in education.
The orientation ended with lunch at 1:30 p.m., after which the participants returned to their respective schools carrying fresh ideas, renewed enthusiasm, and a deeper commitment to providing quality education rooted in the Salesian charism.
