The Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, joyfully celebrated the Religious Profession of fifteen young novices of the Province who officially embraced the Salesian way of life through their First Profession on 24 May 2026. The celebrations were held simultaneously at Sunnyside, Shillong, and Emmaus Novitiate, Zubza, in an atmosphere filled with prayer, gratitude, and hope for the future of the Congregation.
At Sunnyside, Shillong, the Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Zosiama SDB, Provincial of Shillong Province. The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Jeevan Lakra SDB, Vice Provincial of INS, and several other Salesian priests. The celebration witnessed the presence of many confreres, family members, friends, benefactors, and well-wishers who gathered together to pray for the newly professed Salesians.
During the celebration, the young novices publicly professed the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, committing themselves to follow Christ in the spirit of St. John Bosco. The atmosphere was marked by deep devotion and joy as the congregation prayed for the perseverance and fidelity of the newly professed brothers in their Salesian vocation.
Meanwhile, at Emmaus Novitiate, Zubza, the Holy Mass was celebrated at St. Maria Goretti Church, Sechü-Zubza, by Rev. Fr. Joseph Pampackal SDB, Provincial of Dimapur Province. The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial of Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Deli Kapani SDB, Vice Provincial of Dimapur Province, along with several confreres.
The liturgical celebration at Zubza drew the participation of parents, relatives, parishioners, friends, and numerous well-wishers who came to witness this significant milestone in the lives of the young Salesians. The presence of the faithful added warmth and encouragement to the occasion as the newly professed brothers began their religious journey within the Salesian Congregation.
In his message during the celebration, the celebrants encouraged the newly professed Salesians to remain rooted in prayer, humility, community life, and missionary zeal. They were reminded that Religious Profession is not merely a ceremony but the beginning of a lifelong journey of total dedication to God and service to the young, especially the poor and abandoned, following the charism of Don Bosco.
The Province of Guwahati expressed its heartfelt congratulations to all the newly professed Salesians and assured them of continued prayers and support. The Province also thanked the parents and families for generously offering their sons to the service of God and the Church.
