In a momentous event on August 9, 2025 the Holy Family Higher Secondary School, Rongjeng, celebrated the inauguration of its brand-new school bus, officially flagged off by local MLA Shri Jim M. Sangma. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, school staff, and students, marking a significant step toward enhancing educational infrastructure in the region.
The bus, provided under the Government of Meghalaya’s school improvement initiative, aims to ensure safer and more convenient transportation for students. Speaking at the event, Shri Sangma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplifting educational standards across the state.
Expressing his delight at the students’ outstanding performances during the event, the MLA made a major announcement: the establishment of an IPS coaching center in Rongjeng to nurture talented youth and prepare them for civil services. Setting an ambitious target, he declared, “Our goal is to produce at least five IPS officers from this school every year.”
Shri Sangma emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping Rongjeng’s future and urged parents and teachers to work collectively toward students’ success. He commended the dedication of veteran teachers and inspected the school’s computer lab, promising government recognition for diploma certificate courses—a move expected to elevate the institution’s reputation and create new opportunities for learners.
Rev. Fr. Pojit Marak SDB, Principal of Holy Family School, expressed gratitude to the government and Shri Sangma for their support. “This bus will greatly benefit our students, especially those from remote areas. We appreciate the government’s efforts in strengthening school facilities,” he said.
The event was enlivened by cultural performances by the students, showcasing their talents before the gathered dignitaries. The school community welcomed the new addition with cheers, hopeful for a brighter academic future with improved accessibility.
