The pre-novices at Dotma experienced a spiritually enriching and mission-oriented animation session on 28 February 2026, led by South Asia Mission Delegate Fr. Sunny Palamthattel SDB, a Salesian from Don Bosco Pitra.
Addressing the young aspirants with fatherly warmth and missionary enthusiasm, Fr. Sunny inspired them to cultivate the same ardent missionary spirit that marked the lives of the early missionary pioneers who first arrived in the North East. He recalled the sacrifices, courage, and unwavering faith of those heroic missionaries who ventured into unknown territories to proclaim the Gospel and serve the local communities with dedication and love.
Encouraging the pre-novices to look beyond comfort and security, Fr. Sunny emphasized that a true Salesian vocation is deeply rooted in missionary availability and generosity. βThe North East is blessed because missionaries dared to dream and to give their lives,β he reminded them, urging the young men to nurture a heart open to wherever God may call them.
During the Holy Mass in the morning, Fr. Sunny made a special appeal to the community to pray earnestly for all the missions in the North East. He highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by missionaries in remote areas and stressed the need for continued prayerful support, zeal, and commitment.
The animation left a profound impact on the pre-novices, strengthening their missionary awareness and deepening their desire to serve with the spirit of Don Bosco. The session was a timely reminder that the Salesian vocation is, at its heart, a missionary calling to go forth, to serve joyfully, and to bring Christ to the young, especially those most in need.
