The Jongchipara Chapel under Gojapara Parish was blessed on Sunday, 30 August 2026, by Most Rev. Archbishop John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, Rev. Fr. Jaya Prakash, Economer, 16 priests, several religious sisters and a large gathering of faithful.

The blessing of the chapel was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Archbishop Moolachira. The celebration marked an important milestone in the faith journey of the Catholic community of Jongchipara and provided the faithful with a dedicated place for worship, prayer and spiritual growth.

During his homily, Archbishop Moolachira expressed his appreciation to Rev. Fr. Denis Toju Sangma, SDB, for his dedication and efforts in the construction of the chapel. He acknowledged the chapel as a significant blessing for the local Catholic community and encouraged the faithful to make good use of it as a place of prayer and communion.

The Archbishop reminded the people of Jongchipara of their responsibility to keep the Church clean, both inside and outside, and urged them to participate faithfully in the prayer service every Sunday. He encouraged the community to remain committed to their faith and to make the chapel a centre of prayer, fellowship and Christian witness.

Archbishop Moolachira also called upon the faithful to deepen their relationship with Christ and to live their Christian vocation with commitment and sincerity. His message emphasised the importance of faith, prayer and active participation in the life of the Church.

The Eucharistic celebration brought together priests, religious and the faithful in an atmosphere of prayer and thanksgiving. The presence of the Archbishop and the Salesian leadership added significance to the occasion and strengthened the bond between the local community and the wider Church.

Following the Holy Mass, a short cultural programme was held. The Archbishop, priests and religious sisters were felicitated as a gesture of gratitude for their presence and service. The celebration concluded with fellowship and thanksgiving, leaving the Catholic community of Jongchipara with renewed enthusiasm for its faith journey.
