The Recommitment Day of the Jesus Youth, Assam Circle was celebrated with great fervour and spiritual enthusiasm on Sunday, 24 May 2026, coinciding with the Solemnity of Pentecost at St. Joseph Parish, Panbazar, Guwahati. The grace-filled gathering brought together around 140 participants, including four priests, four sisters, Jesus Youth seniors, and youth members from different regions of Assam.

The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Most Rev. John Moolachira D.D., Archbishop of Guwahati, who served as the main celebrant. During the celebration, a number of youth recommitted themselves to become active members of the Jesus Youth movement, renewing their dedication to prayer, service, evangelization, and the mission of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Youth Recommitment Day is an annual worldwide celebration held on Pentecost Sunday during which members of the Catholic youth movement renew their commitment to live the Jesus Youth lifestyle rooted in spirituality, fellowship, and missionary zeal.

The day began with breakfast and registration coordinated by Abita and Daisy, after which the participants proceeded to the church under the guidance of the timekeepers. The programme was compered by Veon and Gloria, who warmly welcomed the gathering and introduced the various sessions of the day.

The atmosphere of joy and prayer was heightened through action songs led by the ADBU Azara and Bongaigaon Jesus Youth teams. The Panbazar team animated the Holy Spirit action song and praise and worship session, helping the participants enter into a deep spirit of prayer and celebration.

A special session on “Discipleship and Commitment” was delivered by Rev. Fr. Thomas Lakra SDB, Parish Priest of Panbazar who inspired the youth to remain deeply rooted in Christ and steadfast in their mission as disciples. This was followed by group sharing coordinated by Sebin, where participants reflected on their faith journey and shared personal experiences of encountering Christ in their lives.

The afternoon Eucharistic Adoration was led by Fr. Abin along with the ADBU Tapesia team, creating a profound atmosphere of silence, surrender, and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Suzana and Marylyn later guided the participants through the liturgical instructions and preparations for the recommitment ceremony and Holy Mass.

The highlight of the gathering was the solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop John Moolachira. During the celebration, the youth made their recommitment pledge, renewing their dedication to Christ and the mission of Jesus Youth. A significant moment of the celebration was the anointing of twelve members as the first Jesus Youth Assam Core Team, who will coordinate the monthly gatherings and the upcoming household ministry initiatives in the region.

Following the anointing ceremony, the Archbishop, along with Fr. Bromio, Fr. Jeslin, and Fr. Abin, prayed over and blessed the newly anointed members and all the participants, making it a deeply spiritual and memorable experience for everyone present.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Florence. Group photographs coordinated by Edwin and a joyful tea fellowship brought the meaningful and spirit-filled gathering to a close, leaving the participants renewed in faith, fellowship, and commitment to Christ and His Church.
