Holy Family Church, Rongjeng, joyfully celebrated its 50th Jubilee Parish Sobha from 30 January to 02 February 2026, marking five decades of faith, service, and vibrant Christian witness in the region. The jubilee celebrations were centred on the theme, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them” (Mark 10:14), highlighting the Church’s commitment to nurturing faith, especially among children and families.
As part of the jubilee preparations, First Communion training and catechetical programmes were held from 26 to 29 January, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Simplicius Kerketta, SDB, Parish Priest, along with Sr. Bimala Rabha, catechists, and TDCYM members.
The jubilee celebrations began on 30 January with a solemn inaugural ceremony, including the hoisting of the jubilee flag and the inauguration of the pandal. Rev. Fr. Levio T. Sangma, Parish Priest of Songsak, served as the Chief Guest and celebrated the Holy Mass. The day also featured the Rosary, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a faith talk by Rev. Fr. Daniel S. Sangma SDB, Assistant Parish Priest of Satgaon, emphasising the sacred responsibility of parents in nurturing children as God’s precious gift.
The second day, 31 January, witnessed prayer services, confessions, and the observance of Don Bosco Peace Day. Sr. Phelina Ch. Marak of Queen Mary’s Convent, Shallang, delivered an insightful talk on the dignity of human life, followed by group discussions. The day also included a Marian procession with children and faith sessions by Rev. Fr. Pojit D. Marak SDB, Rector and Principal of HFHSSR, and Rev. Fr. Sanjosh Sangma SDB of Rongjeng Parish, who addressed contemporary challenges such as the responsible use of social media and digital media. The day concluded with a solemn Holy Mass and cultural programmes.
The highlight of the jubilee was the Jubilee Holy Mass on 01 February 2026, presided over by the Bishop’s Delegate, Rev. Fr. Januarius S. Sangma SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura. During the Eucharistic celebration, First Holy Communion was administered to children, and the Sacrament of Confirmation was conferred. An impressive Eucharistic procession and felicitation programme added to the solemnity of the occasion. Later in the evening, Rev. Fr. Hubert T. Sangma, Parish Priest of Mangsang, spoke on the vital role of parents in the faith formation of children, followed by vibrant cultural performances.
The jubilee celebrations concluded on 02 February 2026 with a Holy Mass offered for the departed souls, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Simplicius Kerketta, SDB. Parishioners returned to their homes with hearts filled with gratitude and renewed commitment to live the Gospel values.
