Holy Cross Church, Rongkhon Parish, celebrated its 40th Parish Day from 10 to 13 September 2026 with great joy, faith, devotion and thanksgiving. The four-day celebration marked a significant milestone in the parish’s forty-year journey of faith, unity, pastoral commitment and service to the people of God.

The celebrations were preceded by a three-day Marriage Preparation and Training Programme, held from 7 to 9 September for 13 couples. On 10 September, a special Marriage Blessing Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Justin Arul Chinnaparaj SDB, Asst. Parish Priest. During the Eucharistic celebration, 10 couples received the Sacrament of Matrimony, making the occasion a joyful moment of grace and renewal for the parish community.

The spiritual preparation for the Parish Day continued with a three-day Triduum from 10 to 12 September, centred on the Rosary and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

On 10 September, the first day of the Triduum began with the Rosary followed by Holy Mass. The Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. George William John SDB, with Rev. Fr. Justin Arul Chinnaparaj SDB and Rev. Fr. Ravi Ekka SDB concelebrating.

The second day, 11 September, continued with the Rosary and Holy Mass, which was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Daimari SDB, Rector of Bosco Mount. The faithful participated with devotion, seeking God’s blessings upon the parish and its families.

The third day, 12 September, also marked the official opening of the Parish Day celebrations. In the evening, the parish flag was hoisted, symbolising the unity and identity of the parish community. This was followed by the Holy Mass celebrated by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma SDB, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School, Tura.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, a Cultural and Felicitation Programme was organised in the parish hall by the Parish Council and the youth. The programme provided an opportunity to celebrate the talents and contributions of the parishioners while strengthening the bonds of fellowship. The day concluded with a fraternal meal shared by the parishioners in a spirit of joy and communion.

The main Parish Day celebration was held on Sunday, 13 September 2026. The day began with Eucharistic Adoration, providing the faithful with an opportunity for prayer and thanksgiving for the blessings received throughout the parish’s forty-year journey.

The solemn Parish Day Holy Mass was celebrated and presided over by Rt. Rev. Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura. The priests concelebrated the Eucharist with the Bishop. The celebration brought together the parish community in thanksgiving for four decades of God’s abundant grace and the dedicated service of priests, religious, catechists, leaders, families and lay faithful who have contributed to the growth of Holy Cross Church, Rongkhon.
