The Garobadha Centre joyfully celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Salesian Cooperators Association on 11 July 2026, bringing together Salesian Cooperators, members of the Salesian Family, parishioners, and well-wishers in a spirit of thanksgiving and renewed commitment to the Salesian mission. The celebration commemorated 150 years of the Association’s dedicated service in living the Salesian vocation inspired by St. John Bosco.
The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Rev. Fr. Siby John, Parish Priest, while Rev. Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, Rector, concelebrated the Holy Mass. In his homily, Fr. Siby John encouraged the faithful to deepen their Christian commitment and to carry forward Don Bosco’s mission by serving young people and families with love, dedication, and hope.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, Mr. Charles D. Sangma, Local Coordinator, extended a welcome to the gathering and served as the Master of Ceremonies. A floral tribute was offered to St. John Bosco, expressing gratitude and reverence to the Founder of the Salesian Family. The participants were then inspired by the reading of one of Don Bosco’s maxims, inviting everyone to embrace a life of faith, charity, and selfless service.
The cultural programme added vibrancy to the celebration. Ms. Protibha T. Sangma, Secretary of the Association, presented a graceful dance performance that was warmly appreciated by the audience. Sr. Luigina Duia, Salesian Family Coordinator, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the rich history, enduring mission, and contemporary relevance of the Salesian Cooperators in the life of the Church and society. The celebration was further enlivened by a lively cultural performance presented by the Boarding Girls, whose enthusiasm brought joy to the gathering.
The formal programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Sr. Cecilia Ksoo, Local Delegate. The participants then joined in singing the Salesian Cooperators Anthem, reaffirming their unity and shared commitment to the Salesian charism.
A fellowship meal followed, providing an opportunity for members and guests to strengthen bonds of fraternity and communion. The celebration concluded with a meeting of the Salesian Cooperators, during which members reviewed their activities, discussed future plans, and renewed their commitment to the ideals and mission of St. John Bosco.
