Around 510 Garo-Assamese youth gathered at the Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna, Matunga, on Sunday, 20 September 2026, for their monthly Eucharistic celebration, bringing together young people in an atmosphere of faith, fellowship and community.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Parsiush Marak SJ, who served as the main celebrant. The gathering provided the youth with an opportunity to come together in prayer, strengthen their faith and celebrate their shared cultural bonds.

The spirit of fellowship continued in the afternoon with the much-awaited FRIENDSHIP CUP. The semi-finals and finals commenced at around 4:00 p.m. on the football turf at Don Bosco Matunga. The matches witnessed enthusiastic participation from the youth and generated a lively atmosphere of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

In the girls’ category, the Blue Team emerged as champions, while the Green Team secured the runners-up position. In the boys’ category, the Green Team lifted the championship trophy, with the White Team finishing as runners-up.

Individual prizes were also presented to players who distinguished themselves through their performance, teamwork and contribution to their respective teams.

Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas SDB, Rector of the Provincial House, graced the finals as the Chief Guest. He presented the championship and runners-up trophies, along with individual prizes, to the winning teams and outstanding players.
