In a spirit of gratitude and missionary zeal, a send-off prayer service for Rev. Fr Uttam Hubert Malsom SDB was held on the evening of 19 April 2026 at the Provincial House. The prayer service was conducted by Rev. Fr Thomas John SDB and was attended by around 22 confreres from various communities across Guwahati, who gathered to bid farewell and invoke God’s blessings upon Fr Uttam as he sets out for the missions as a missionary ad gentes.

The atmosphere was marked by prayerful reflection and fraternal warmth as the confreres expressed their solidarity and support for Fr Uttam’s new mission. During the service, Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB offered special prayers, entrusting Fr Uttam to God’s providence and seeking abundant graces for his missionary journey. He also conveyed his heartfelt wishes, praying that Fr Uttam may be a true witness of Christ in his new field of service.

In the early hours of 20 April 2026, at around 5:45 a.m., Fr Uttam departed from Mumbai en route to Johannesburg, South Africa. From there, he will proceed to Lesotho, where he is assigned to serve in one of the communities of the Salesian Province of Southern Africa (AFM).

As Fr Uttam embarks on this significant missionary venture, he carries with him the blessings, good wishes, and prayers of the entire Province. His departure marks not only a personal journey of faith and service but also a renewed commitment of the Province to the universal mission of the Church.

The confreres and the faithful accompany him in prayer, asking the Lord to guide, protect, and make his ministry fruitful in the vineyard entrusted to him.
