Rev. Fr. Pascal Dungdung, SDB, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his Religious Profession at Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, on Saturday, 7 November 2026, marking 50 years of fidelity, dedication and service to God and the young in the Salesian Congregation.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was jointly presided over by the Golden Jubilarian, Rev. Fr. Pascal Dungdung, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Almeida. The occasion brought together Salesian confreres, members of the local community and well-wishers to thank God for the gift of Fr. Pascal’s vocation and his five decades of consecrated life.
In his homily, Fr. Pascal expressed his profound joy and gratitude, saying that he was extremely happy to celebrate God’s faithfulness in his life. He thanked the community of Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, and all the confreres for the thoughtful arrangements and efforts in making the jubilee celebration a memorable occasion.
Reflecting on his vocational journey, he recalled the days when he entered the novitiate and expressed his gratitude to his companions, whose friendship, support and guidance helped him along the way. He acknowledged that the Lord had always been with him, protecting and guiding him through the different experiences and challenges of life.
Among the remarkable incidents he recalled were his narrow escape from a bomb blast in Assam and an encounter with a tiger, experiences that strengthened his conviction of God’s providential protection. He became visibly emotional as he remembered the Salesian confreres who had played significant roles in shaping his vocation, particularly Rev. Fr. Benedict Kiro and Rev. Fr. Edward D’Souza. He also fondly remembered his family members and acknowledged their love, encouragement and support throughout his religious journey.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a felicitation programme was organised in honour of the Golden Jubilarian. Several confreres and well-wishers conveyed their congratulations and appreciation, expressing gratitude for his years of commitment and faithful service to the Church and the Salesian Congregation.
