A sense of joy and nostalgia filled the Provincial House, Guwahati, as Rev. Fr. John Kalapura SDB paid a visit to the community on 12th October 2025. The following morning, he celebrated the Holy Mass with the confreres, marking a moment of grace and reunion.

During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Kalapura expressed his happiness at being back in Guwahati—a place closely linked with his years of service as both Economer and Provincial of the Guwahati Province. His presence brought back fond memories among the confreres who have known him as a man of wisdom, simplicity, and deep faith.

Reflecting on the Gospel passage that proclaimed “Someone greater than Solomon is here,” Fr. Kalapura reminded the assembly that in the Holy Eucharist, Jesus himself—the greatest among all—is truly present in our midst. His homily, brief yet deeply meaningful, once again reflected his eloquence and gift for communicating profound truths in a clear and heartfelt manner.

Fr. Kalapura also shared that the year 2026 will be a special milestone for him, as he will celebrate both his Diamond Jubilee of priestly ordination and 75 years of his dedicated presence in North East India—a remarkable journey of faith and service.

At the end of the celebration, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of Guwahati, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Kalapura for his visit and for presiding over the Holy Mass. He thanked him for his enduring inspiration and contribution to the Province.

Fr. Kalapura was accompanied by Bro. John Colombi SDB, who joined him during the visit, adding to the warmth of the occasion.
