The community of Bosco Mount in Rongkhon received a special visitor on Sunday 22 February 2026 as the Vice Postulator of the Salesian Family, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Cruz SDB, addressed the staff and aspirants, urging them to pursue the dream that Don Bosco has laid out for them.

Fr. Cruz was formally welcomed by the rector, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Daimari SDB, and the community, including the young aspirants at the institute. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the students to interact with a Salesian with a global perspective.

In a “goodnight talk” delivered on the eve of his formal address, Fr. Cruz shared anecdotes from his personal journey. He spoke of his current visit to Northeast India, playfully noting his role as a “tourist” while recounting his travels to Shillong, Jowai, Sohra, and Tura, as well as his enriching meetings with fellow Salesians in the region. He delved into his extensive work in the Philippines and other countries, weaving in his personal vocation story and the profound moment he felt called to offer himself to the work of the Lord.

Addressing the aspirants directly, Fr. Cruz brought the focus back to their own futures. He told them that the dream of Don Bosco is not just a historical relic, but a living blueprint for their lives. “The dream of Don Bosco is for you to be upright human beings and good citizens,” he said.

He encouraged the young men to discern their paths with honesty and generosity. “If you have the call to follow Don Bosco’s Way, you should be ready to respond generously,” Fr. Cruz advised. “But if that is not your path, you are all still invited to be good citizens and honest persons. That, too, is a way of living out the dream.”

During the formal gathering, Rev. Fr. Joseph Almeida SDB introduced the visiting Vice Postulator to the community members, highlighting his significant role in the Salesian world. Fr. Cruz took the opportunity to express his deep appreciation for the warmth and generosity he encountered from the communities and people of the Northeast. He expressed a sincere wish to return to the region for a longer stay in the future, allowing him to immerse himself more deeply in the local culture and Salesian works.
