A five-day Animation Programme on Youth, Indigenous Values, Synodal Leadership, and Ecological Stewardship commenced on 27 June 2026 at Joropara, bringing together 46 enthusiastic participants from the Dioceses of Guwahati, Bongaigaon, and Tura.
The programme aims to equip young leaders with a deeper understanding of indigenous wisdom, foster a spirit of synodal leadership rooted in collaboration and participation, and inspire greater commitment towards ecological stewardship in response to the pressing environmental challenges of our time.
The participants, representing different dioceses and youth groups, are engaged in a series of interactive sessions, discussions, group activities, and practical reflections designed to strengthen their leadership skills while remaining firmly grounded in their cultural heritage and faith.
Rev. Fr. George Plathottam, SDB, an experienced educator, communicator, and youth animator, serves as the principal resource person for the five-day programme. Through his presentations and interactive methodology, he is guiding participants to appreciate the richness of indigenous values, embrace the Church’s vision of synodality, and become responsible custodians of creation.
The animation programme also provides a platform for participants to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and build networks across dioceses. It seeks to nurture a new generation of youth leaders who are committed to serving their communities with compassion, inclusivity, and ecological responsibility.
Organisers expressed hope that the programme would empower the participants to return to their respective dioceses as catalysts for positive social, cultural, and environmental transformation, inspired by the Gospel and the enduring wisdom of indigenous communities.
