Don Bosco School, Saralpara, celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 5, 2026 with great enthusiasm, gratitude and cultural splendour, honouring the dedication of teachers and remembering the inspiring life and legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, eminent philosopher, scholar, statesman and former President of India, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day.

The celebration began with the lighting of candles, symbolising the light of knowledge and wisdom that teachers kindle in the lives of their students. This was followed by a floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, recalling his enduring contribution to education and his vision of education as a means of forming character, cultivating wisdom and nurturing responsible citizens.

The cultural programme showcased the richness and diversity of India through a variety of colourful performances. Students presented a prayer dance, group song, Nepali dance, Adivasi dance, Santali dance, Bodo dance, Lazy dance and a lively skit. The performances filled the occasion with joy and festivity while highlighting the students’ talents and celebrating the spirit of unity in diversity.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Ajay Xaxa SDB emphasised that the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan reminds everyone that a true teacher does much more than impart lessons from textbooks. A teacher shapes minds, forms character and inspires young people to grow into responsible and compassionate human beings. He stressed that respecting a teacher is ultimately a way of respecting the foundation upon which one’s future is built. The celebration concluded on a note of gratitude and appreciation for the teachers whose commitment, patience and guidance continue to inspire and shape the lives of the students.
