Don Bosco School, Mendal, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on 15 August 2026. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at around 7:30 a.m., with the active participation of students, hostel residents and staff members.
The programme was compered by Br. Alphar Beck and began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Sir Celestine. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, as the gathering stood in attention and paid tribute to the nation with pride and respect.
Chesal, a Class IX student, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the value of freedom, national unity and the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. He reminded the gathering of the responsibility of the younger generation to cherish the freedom they have received and to contribute positively to the country.
Adding to the patriotic spirit of the celebration, the hostel boys presented a patriotic song that filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm and national pride. A patriotic dance performed by the girl students further enriched the programme, showcasing India’s cultural diversity and the students’ love for their motherland.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Sir Celestine spoke about the duties and responsibilities of citizens towards the nation. He encouraged the students to become responsible citizens and to play an active role in the progress and nation-building of India.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Br. Firstjoy, Principal of Don Bosco School, Mendal. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, students, staff and all those who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The Independence Day celebration ended on a joyful and positive note with the collective message, “Happy Independence Day!” The programme successfully fostered a spirit of patriotism, unity and responsibility among the students and staff of Don Bosco School, Mendal.
