Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Boko, witnessed a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newly constructed Multipurpose Auditorium on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The new facility, envisioned as a space for the holistic development of students, was inaugurated in the presence of the Provincial, Rector, Principal, Economer, guests, teachers, students and well-wishers of the institution. The inauguration was marked by the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Rev Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, followed by a blessing prayer. The ceremony symbolised the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the school and its commitment to providing better facilities and opportunities for its students.

The inauguration programme began with a welcome to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Rev. Fr. Chellanthara John SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Boko, welcomed Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, along with the Economer and other distinguished guests. He expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for their presence and for their encouragement and support towards the growth and development of the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial and Chief Guest, appreciated the efforts of all those who were involved in the construction and completion of the auditorium. He acknowledged the dedication and contribution of the school management, staff, benefactors, workers and all others whose collective efforts helped turn the vision of the auditorium into reality.

Fr. Kuricheal emphasised the usefulness and importance of the new facility for the students and the wider school community. He said that the auditorium would provide a suitable platform for various academic, cultural, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

“This auditorium is for the all-round development of students’ personality and talents,” he said. He encouraged the students to make good use of the facilities provided to them and to utilise the auditorium as a space where they could discover, develop and showcase their talents.

The Provincial further stressed that education is not limited to classroom learning but involves the overall formation of young people. He encouraged the students to participate actively in cultural programmes, public speaking, creative activities, celebrations and other events that would help them grow in confidence, leadership and responsibility.

Rev. Fr. Kerobin Minj SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Boko, also expressed his appreciation to all those who had contributed to the successful completion of the Don Bosco Auditorium. He acknowledged the support and cooperation received from various individuals and groups and thanked everyone whose efforts, directly or indirectly, contributed to the realisation of the project.

The Principal highlighted the significance of having a multipurpose auditorium within the school campus. He noted that the facility would provide students with greater opportunities to participate in cultural and educational activities and would serve as an important venue for school functions, seminars, meetings, celebrations, competitions and other programmes.

The cultural programme added colour and vibrancy to the inauguration ceremony. A prayer dance presented by the Vicuna Boarders set a solemn tone for the occasion. It was followed by a series of traditional and cultural performances, including Bihu Dance, Boro Dance, Rabha Dance, Garo Dance and Nepali Dance. A re-mixed dance presented by the convent girls brought the cultural programme to a lively conclusion. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Sir Anthony Boro, who expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, guests, staff, students and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the inauguration programme.
