Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Kharghuli, marked International Workers’ Day with deep appreciation and festive spirit, honouring the invaluable contribution of its support staff members on May 1, 2026.
The programme began with an introduction by Sir Ravi Hemrom, who highlighted the significance of the day and the essential role played by workers in the smooth functioning of the institution. This was followed by a message from the Rector, who acknowledged the silent yet dedicated service of the support staff and encouraged all to value their commitment.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB, Executive Director of DBI, emphasized the dignity of labour. He reminded everyone that every form of work carries its own value and deserves respect. “All work has its own dignity, and no one should feel ashamed to do any kind of work. Rather, those who do not work should feel ashamed to eat,” he remarked. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the support staff for their tireless service, dedication, and loyalty to the institute.
A special highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of the support staff members. Each one was honoured with a traditional phoolan gamocha as a token of appreciation and respect. The atmosphere was further enlivened with fun-filled activities organized exclusively for the staff, bringing smiles and laughter to all present.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of gifts prepared for the support staff, followed by a warm and friendly tea gathering. The event not only recognized the dignity of labour but also strengthened the sense of community and belonging among all members of the DBI family.
